Thankful November Part # 2

When you start to think of all that you are thankful for the list can get really long. I wonder if the list ever actually ends at all. I suspect I could come up with at least one thing every day of the year. Hmmm, maybe that would be a good project for me and/or my girls.

#3 Speaking of my girls..... I am thankful for my children. They truly are a gift from God. What a blessing. I can't even imagine the person I would be today if I had not had these girls. I always thought the parent taught and raised the children but I have learned so much from them. I have grown tremendously as a person. I don't think a person is at their full potential until they have children. When you have children your level of selfishness goes down (usually) so that is really a good thing! You finally begin to look outside of yourself and to see the world differently. (Hey, it is NOT all about me after all!) I know all you parents know what I am talking about.

My girls are precious to me. I told them at a young age (when it was difficult to understand why Mom wouldn't let them do certain things, go to certain places or be with certain people) that they were a treasure. I told them they were a treasure just like the jewels & gold you would find in a treasure chest. I would tell them, "what do people do if they find a treasure chest"? Do they just toss it out in the street to see what will become of it? Certainly not! They hide it, they admire it, they value it, and they protect it. I told my girls they were MY treasure from God.

It is amazing to me with only 2 children how they can be so different. They are raised in the same home with the same parents. How can they be so different? I have one girl that is my "inside" girl as we like to say. She would go outside once a year to see the fall foliage but that is about it. ;-) The other daughter LOVES to go outside. She wants to go outside to sit on the porch when the pooches go do their business (eeeekk!). She wants to go outside to do her school work. She loves to ride her bike and visit the neighbor when he is working outside in the yard or garden. I have one daughter that loves to read and write. She will stay up way too late because she just can't put the book down. She loves writing reports! The other daughter loves to be read to and really doesn't like to write at all. She is enjoying reading now more than ever but still not something she sits around wanting to do all the time. I have one daughter that irons all her clothes (yes, even her jeans sometimes) and one daughter that pulls out a wadded up shirt and throws it on. Of course, she may be wearing a sparkly, sequined skirt with it and long dangle earrings but that is OK. I can't tell you how many times I have said, "you can't wear that, it looks like you slept in it"! LOL However, she is also our cowgirl. She loves cowgirl hats and boots! She loves turquoise jewelry, western wear stores, & western decor (and of course HORSES!).

Both my girls are great and their differences make life so interesting. I couldn't begin to list all the things I love about them or that make them special. I just have to say I am so thankful for them both! I love you girls!
