Above: Check out the ice cycles on the bottom of the car (and the mailbox below). No, that branch is NOT supposed to be in the drive way.
Below: Here is one side of our house.
Here is another side of our house.
If you look out your window and you see something like the picture below...that is NOT a good sign.
There is Hannah in the middle of the devastation. Both girls went to the neighbor lady's house and helper her move big branches out of her driveway.
State of Emergency:
Words synonymous with Oklahoma for almost a week now.

As you can see this tree is totally gone, proving our theory that Bradford Pear Trees are pretty wimpy.
As the day went on and we heard about more and more people out of power we waited. By the afternoon we thought we were not going to be affected. Around 4:45 Kim picked up the phone. Our friends were out of power and she was calling to ask if they wanted to come to our house. The second she picked up the phone the power went out. Ugh! We thought we had made it. That first night was REALLY cold and dark. Our power came back on around 7 pm on Thursday evening. Although it was only 3 days it felt like a week. As you might imagine, our whole family has a new appreciation for electricity, heaters, and lights!
For those of you that have seen the show 'Jericho' we were starting to relate a little too well to that show. Before the worst part of this disaster was over there were no gas cans, no generators, no chain saws, and NO D-batteries in all of our Super Walmart. In the grocery stores the delis were closed, empty, and dark because all their food spoiled. There were huge empty spots on shelves with candles, cans of soup, and paper products. On Wednesday, there were 2 trucks set up in an empty parking lot selling gas cans and generators. One night we went to get gas and 2 gas stations had NO gas.
It is now Saturday and we can hear the faint sound of chainsaws in the distance.

Wow. The pictures really show the devistation ice storms can cause. It's so beautifu, but so dangerous. I'm glad you have power again!! It's amazing how much you miss it when you don't have it.
Sherry is right. You will never take it for granted again. When we had our storm a few years ago that is just what our trees looked like also. You didn't have to experience it, I would have sent pictures. I'm glad for you it is over and no one was hurt. Thank you Jesus!
