How True

Found the above image here.

The gospel makes some people sad, some mad and some glad. It is better that people should go out of church mad than merely go out, neither sad, mad, nor glad.
- Havner, Vance

I recently saw this profound quote. With all the 'seeker friendly' attitudes in churches this says a lot. I am really saddened by how much the church (as a whole) is focusing on entertaining in order to attract and attempt to keep the un-churched (dare I say sinners). It is as though without special lighting, concerts, video games for the kids, Jesus could never save these sinners.

My question is this though, how did we get saved? How did people ever get convicted of the sin they were in and get saved 100 years ago? There were no Christian concerts, video games, and unoffensive preaching. Heaven and hell were preached. How many times do you hear there is a hell? If you hear it often thank the Lord above for that.

Most churches seem to want to tell you only about how much God loves you. While that is certainly true we also need to know we are sinners that are only saved by HIS grace. We need to wake from our slumber and stop going through the motions. People are going to hell every day and they need to know there is a way to be saved. Sadly, the happy shiny gospel that is preached a lot never points out to us that we are sinners. That we need a saviour.

....It is better that people should go out of church mad than merely go out, neither sad, mad, nor glad. This is just another way of saying unaffected. The gospel of Jesus Christ should have a powerful affect on all of us!
