Hannah Has Been Busy!

Have you seen the movie, "Expelled" yet? Be sure to look at Kim's blog to see what they are saying about the movie.

Our homeschool support group provides many opportunities for us. Recently, a lot has been going on. Hannah went to the SPCA with other middle schoolers to plant flowers, pick up trash, and be a blessing. They were also given a tour and were able to see some of the dogs they had.

Below is one of her friends.

Before this event we had a field trip to the Great Harvest Bread Company. That is a wonderful place. It smells SO good in there by the way!

We learned some very interesting things. One of the most infuriating interesting things was this. By law, grocery store bread that claims it is 100% whole wheat only has to have 51% whole wheat in it. I call that lying but what do I know? Most are just bleached white flour and then they add some of the parts of the wheat back to it. They don't add all of it of course because that would be, like, really, nutritious. From what I have learned the bread we get in the grocery store is not very good at all compared to homemade or a company like this that goes out of their way to make it healthy. You pay more of course for this type of bread but it is worth it. For more information on this topic check this link out or this one.

The picture below doesn't really do it justice. This was a BEAUTIFUL loaf of bread. It only had 4 ingredients too! Simpler really is better.

You can't see it here but a lot of the children are sitting on paper wheat bags.

As you can see from that smile Hannah is having a great time! She loved the bread. So did I!
