Have you ever had someone say this to you?

"You can't shelter your kids forever. They have to learn to handle the real world sometime.

"Here's a headine from a recent news story, Are homeschoolers prepared for the real world? The article is actually positive, but the implication of all such questions is that homeschooling might not be able to meet the challenges of getting children from birth to adulthood as well as the state and its agents in the schools. The mounting evidence shows that homeschooled children are doing just fine, but that won't stop the questions.

However, while my children were busy at home in their "fake world," what were the students in this Michigan school doing to prepare for the "real world?"

Having a "mock" safety drill complete with police, riot gear, and weapons.
To make the drill realistic, no one was told in advance.
Students, who were unaware police were conducting a drill, were taken from the classroom into the halls, patted down by officers and asked what they had in their pockets, the newspaper said.

"Some of these kids were so scared, they just about wet their pants,"
Putting fear in the hearts and minds of children is not my idea of a solid education. I suppose to the state, it is. Welcome to the "real world."The schools operate by compulsion and faith in the state, but a family operates by compassion and faith in God.

Which version of the "real world" do you want your children growing up in?
