Valentine Mail Boxes

We are doing something I have been wanting to do for a few years now. I read about this somewhere. Basically, you make a 'valentine mailbox" and hang it on your bed room door about 2 weeks (or 2 days in our case) before Valentine's Day. The idea is that all the family members put "mail" in the box. Mail could be notes expressing things you love about the person or treats or anything else you can think of. Of course, ON Valentine's Day there should be a little something special in all of them. ;-)

I need to get out some pre-cut construction paper (in red and pink of course) and cute stickers with a pen so we are ready to go when the mood hits us. Putting this all in a basket in a convenient location just might give way to some excellent creativity.
Already this morning both girls woke up to a special piece of chocolate in their mail boxes from Mom. Catrina printed out her own "certificate" for reading time from Big Sister to drop in Little Sisters mail box. I just saw Little Sister standing at the door of Big Sister with her coupon in hand. Now I hear a discussion about what book will be read. Music to a mother's ears.

As you can see, Catrina made one.....

Hannah made one.....

And I thought it looked like fun so I wanted to make one.....

I think this would be a fun activity for anyone that has 2 or more people living in the same house. We cut down cereal boxes and just covered them with construction paper and stickers. Catrina used lined paper and hers was pretty cute. Hannah cut little pieces of pipe cleaners for hers. I think it is interesting how they are each so different.

I also think these are going to be so much fun that nobody will want to take them down. We may just have to keep our "Valentine mail boxes" up until we replace them with "Easter mail boxes".

If anyone decides to make one let me know how it goes. I would LOVE to hear a comment from you on this. Let us know!

I think these are not only cute but practical and I like the idea of leaving them until Easter. My message for the boxes are that I love my kids and grandkids more than anything. Ok, I love my husband too. Hugs and Kisses all around. Happy Valentines Day!

Ok, well, I never thought of that but I will put YOUR message in the box to the children. We love you too! :-) ~Kim
