A funny thing happened on the way in from the garden.....
After working on the watermelon garden (wg for short) we were discussing the issues of animals and/or birds getting into the garden. Michael said, "we should make some pies! You know the the ones with the graham cracker crusts". I knew immediately what he was talking about and we just continued to talk about how that would be a great idea and we could tie them on to some sticks. After a few seconds our oldest daughter, looking a bit confused, said "how are pies going to keep the birds away"?
I guess we should have explained that we were really talking about making pies so we could use the empty pie pans. However, she had a rather different image in her mind that involved graham cracker crust pies tied to stakes in the garden.
Thought that was too funny not to share. Hope you got a good laugh out of it but don't tell my oldest daughter....she might not appreciate it as much as we did.
