Philadelphia Pictures #1

I wasn't kidding when I said in my earlier post that "Lady GPS" took us right to Independence Hall. We realized about this time that we were going to be driving right into the front door if we didn't make a change. Apparently, they don't allow you to park on the front lawn. We had to go find a parking garage. This picture shows you our first view of it right in the middle. Sorry about my hand being in there.

I thought this was a neat picture. Be sure to click on it so you can read the sign. (below)

We ended up arriving in Philly close to lunch time so we were pretty hungry. We didn't think we would be able to appreciate all the sights if we were starving. We went into the Visitors Center first thing.

We walked up to a lady asking where we could eat. She told us we could eat there or walk a few blocks and get one of (or did she say THE best?) the best Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches in Philadelphia. Believe it or not, that was one of my goals for the day. Yes, I know what you are thinking. I had the opportunity to walk where our founding fathers walked and to see such wonderful historical sights as THE Liberty Bell! I agree but in addition to those wonderful things I wanted to try an authentic Philly Steak & Cheese Sandwich....the best and most authentic I could lay my hands on. I looked at hubby and he looked at me. He was probably looking deep into my eyes where sandwiches were floating around when we both said "let's go"! We were glad we did too.
Here are a few things we saw on our way to eat!

I saw this statue (below) on our way there. When we were looking at this pictures after arriving home my family informed me that this was NOT a statue. I guess, when I looked away the "statue" picked up his bag and rode off! It was really a person. I was amazed!

We were so happy when we saw this sign! (below)

Now I can say, I have had the best! I am not sure I will ever want to eat one around here though. It was awesome and I am glad I did it. The only problem is that whenever I look at these pictures my mouth starts to water and I want to hop a plane to Philadelphia!

The next time you are in Philadelphia be sure to go to Sonny's! You won't regret it at all. Be sure to ask for "The Classic". I grabbed a couple of menus before we left and I plan on framing at least one. If you forget the name or want to know the address just ask me! :-)

In case you couldn't see the sandwich very well here is a better photo. ;-)

Hannah was a big fan also! Can you tell?

We were pretty hungry while waiting on our food I thought this picture summed up our feelings.

Good bye Sonny! We will miss you!

Well, that is all the pictures for today. This takes you through our getting there and walking to get some food. You have seen some of the sights we have seen so far on our journey. You haven't seen the awesome gift shop in the Visitor's Center. Actually, we shopped in there for a while before we went searching for food. It was at this point (after visiting our 2nd gift shop BEFORE seeing the sight) that we decided we would be really happy to visit all the sights of the world, one gift shop at a time.

We were buying little Liberty Bells & post cards before we had even seen the Liberty Bell!

Is that pitiful or what?

You can look inside the Visitors Center online by clicking here.

Having fun with the photo editor (above). I will have more pictures, most likely tomorrow.

So did we! Catrina even wanted to take pictures of 5th & Chestnut, like the guy was saying in the movie. :-)
