Another Day, Another $500 Dollars

Well, maybe it was only $458. What would that be you ask? That was the price tag on 3 hours of having a plumber at our house but mostly under the house. Poor guy! I felt so sorry for him...until I had to pay the bill. Before that I kept wishing I had presents to bring him. Anyone willing to go under a house has to have some kind of reward. When he came out he was dirty. When he went under the 2nd time he was dirty AND muddy. Yuck! (Can you imagine what is under a house? You have your bugs and spiders and spider webs I am sure. Then you have a water leak off your tub so who knows what all that water attracts.) By the way, the plumber we had was NOT as excited as the plumber in the photo above.
We have Re-Bath coming out on Friday to make the new and improved magical shower. Michael wanted to make sure there weren't any problems with the plumbing. When you are anxiously awaiting your new 'shower in a day' you don't want to hear those terrible words.
Sorry, Mr. Guy -That -Is -So -Excited -To -Get -His -New -Shower, but we have a problem.
This is going to delay the installation.
No, no, no!
We did not want to hear that.

As it turns out we needed something unclogged (we knew about that part) but we also need a part replaced. It was a really old part...maybe 50-60 yrs. old? It didn't look too good from what I could see and I am not a qualified plumber.

While he was here and the timer was already going we asked about another problem. The toilet (in the bathroom of course) off of our bedroom has not been working for a long time. We thought it was just a clog. The plumber said, "It is not a clog....it is just OLD!". Humph! The nerve of that guy! Well, he said that the toilet was just old and the remedy? A NEW toilet of course. For now we are just going to deal with the current toilet. This is a home and family where we value age as wisdom comes along with it. We don't just throw people or things out because they are OLD. Maybe my toilet is an antique now? Wonder if I could take in on the Antique Road Show and find out it is worth millions. Hey, that would cover my plumbing bill for sure! Yippee!!

There you have it. That was my fun for yesterday. I just hope we don't have to save money by not showering for a few months to help cover the bill. ;-)
