Our Superman!

So much for a holiday weekend. The place where Michael works was supposed to be off Thurs. through the weekend. We were all pretty excited about the really long weekend we were all going to have together. Didn't work out as planned.

We had big plans for yesterday. Catrina was supposed to have school with her friend Patti at our house. We decided that as soon as they were done we would go take the Reading test (you have to have a test proving you can read at least an 8th grade reading level to get the permit) and then the Learner's Permit test. This has been a long time in coming and Catrina was finally more than ready to take the plunge! I didn't realize until later how much Michael was looking forward to being part of that whole process. He was able to hear the story and see the pictures later.

Thurs. morning he received a phone call. One of the plants that Michael has worked in was having a problem and needed HELP! They couldn't run until he came to save the day. What was supposed to only take a short time took about 6 hours! He wasn't very happy by the end of that day. He missed all the activities mentioned above. :-(

This morning he woke up to another phone call. Guess where Michael is going today? Check out the picture below. Apparently, FEMA has shut this place down. You may have already heard about that.

The water has gone down....I assume a lot. They have a HUGE mess on their hands. He has to come in to save the day again. This time FEMA won't even let them open with out him doing what he needs to go into do. We don't know how long it will take but it will probably be an all day thing. He is working as fast as he can. I saw this bit of news. Below is a small portion of the article......
NEW YORK (AP) — Retail gas prices rose overnight Friday for the first time in more than a month as the closure of a Kansas refinery sent prices in the center of the country sharply higher. Oil futures, meanwhile, surged $1 a barrel to another 10-month high.....

......chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service, said the overnight increase is almost all attributable to price jumps in Plains and some Rockies states. Supplies there have been cut by the flooding and closure of a refinery in Coffeyville, Kan., that can produce 2.1 million gallons of gasoline per day.....
"They just lost about one-seventh of their gasoline supply for the summer," Kloza said.

Our Superman! That is why you see the picture at the top of this post. Not only is he OUR hero but he is the hero for a lot of people. The card above was given to him from his children for Father's Day. The girls picked it out and it really touched my heart. The inside of the card says, "I WISH you could see YOURSELF the way I do". When they asked to get him that card I had to really work to push the tears away. After all, standing in the grocery store crying is not something I like to be seen doing.

(While finishing up this post I got a phone call. Superman just called to tell me they have a real mess over there and he has been put in "a holding pattern" and has no idea when he will be home. I thought that was pretty funny!)

It is days like these that make me think even more about how blessed I am. I thank God for my Superman. He is the best. When I see how he gives 100% and often more (not only for me but for his children) it inspires me to do better and be better. I have been given such a wonderful gift and I don't ever want to take that for granted. I pray that God will help me to be a better wife to Superman.

Well, Superman is off to save the day again. He will be tired when he comes home so I need to get busy working on his refuge from the world. It is my pleasure though.

Come home soon, Superman!

We will be waiting.
